I want you
I don’t want your text messages
I don’t want your wall posts
I don’t want your phone calls
or your post cards
or your comments
they’ll not do, not one
I do not want them…

How does it benefit you
to say I don’t give a shit
about what’s in my food
or the price of crude
or who’s laying their lives
for politicians
who cheat on their girlfriends
kill their wives and
tell their children
that money is everything
that first love dies
and no one gets anything
unless they take it
from the bum guy next to them
you buy that too?
you buying him?
can you really own it?
I know, you know,
the lies own you
until you finally own up to them.
So why won’t you listen
when I’m trying my hardest
to help you understand
that if you think it’s possible for you
to make it on your own
you won’t, you don’t, you can’t.

with every syllable here written
my life burns away
a mark, a fake, a stand-in
left by my inidling hands,
my silhouette, an outline
stays staring in my place
growing more distinct
as I fade into the dark,
as my energy is spent,
as it is read and written
by concerned parties
seeking me
for what intent or purpose I
I do not know
though
I do fear I might

economics
the game of politicians
democracy’s salesmen
who insist
it’s a great deal
a steal even
they’re dealing
in heaven
and railroad ties
to make them
appealing when
you don’t
need either
a share
or a stake
but equal representation
they think
it would be
a mistake
if they’d ever
let it slip by them
as everyone’s buying
the song
of the day
or the patriots way
they’re decrying
they’re laying
waste
to it
chest down
roadside
choking on
words
much too big for them

you’re asking ?
well I’m telling you
there’s a new
civil war to be fought
and our hands will be
like the righteous fist of god
clearing the land of
the corporate demagogues
like Hitler burned synagogues
plans to control thought
at the push of a button
just like they’re droppin’ bombs
the SWAT team comin’
to arrest us for downloading songs
well they won’t get me
cause when they get here
I’ll be gone
already a memory
but the scent will linger on
and soon the scene’s undone
oil fields blocking the sun
and trees burning
the breeze carries death
revolutionaries’ guns
and I’m one
cause I spit fire like bullets
and I plan to conspire
till the job is done
the end of all wars that can never be won
no it’s just begun
it’s in you and me
since before we were aware of it
a long time coming
much too long to be scared of it
don’t you say that I’m runnin’
cause I’ll be prepared for it
buyin’ seeds
countin’ deeds
everything I need
I carry with me
my sword the word
breeds a new solidarity
to sweep out the notes
the sour keys of hegemony
my enemy breathes
and I know it
I feel it
seen the greed-king-mantis-head
in my dreams
that’s why I’m tryin’ to show
that if you want to survive
you’re gonna have to let go of it
life
amenities
all that time on the sofa, shit
you should’ve been outside
observing, proclaiming it
America serving
her population’s writ
to the globalist nation
so that we’ll all be working
making sneakers or cell phones
till the time we forget
that consumption and creation
are totally opposite
